New Partnership: SRA x Bulleen Boomers Basketball Club
Following their outstanding 2026 grading period, we are proud to officially launch a 12-month strength, conditioning and performance partnership with Bulleen Templestowe Basketball Association.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to raising the standard of junior athlete development, physical preparation and performance across Australia.
Under the careful guidance of the SRA Team, Bulleen Basketball Association will adopt a performance framework that leads to better prepared athletes, more supported coaches and clearer performance pathways in sport for athletes and families.
What You Can Expect
Over the coming 12 months, SRA will integrate structured physical development into the club’s existing training schedule. This means athletes won’t just be working on skills and tactics, they’ll also be developing:
- Better warm up, cool down and movement strategies
- Stronger, more resilient bodies
- Faster acceleration and change of direction techniques
- Improved jump performance
- Smarter recovery habits
Just as importantly, coaches will gain practical frameworks they can reinforce across the season.
Structured On-Court Strength & Conditioning Sessions
Throughout the season, SRA coaches will deliver targeted sessions embedded within team training blocks, athletes will also be provided with take home workout programs.
These sessions will focus on:
- Effective warm-up structures that prepare athletes properly
- Foundational strength and movement patterns
- Basic plyometric progressions
- Speed and agility mechanics
- Injury prevention principles
- Recovery strategies between trainings and games
Everything delivered will be:
- Practical
- Age-appropriate
- Repeatable
- Easy for coaches to continue reinforcing
Performance Testing & Benchmarking
U14 & U16 Athletes will participate in structured performance testing across the season.
Testing will measure key athletic qualities such as:
- Vertical jump
- Speed
- Agility
- Hip and groin strength
- Conditioning capacity
Athletes will receive benchmarking and measurable reference points to track their development. For families, this means better clarity, for coaches, it provides objective insight, for athletes, it creates motivation and direction.
Education & Development Workshops for Coaches
A key pillar of this partnership is coach development. SRA will provide structured frameworks that help coaches align physical preparation with on-court performance. Coaches will be present during all sessions, gaining practical tools they can embed across weekly training. Coaches will also be exposed to masterclass workshops, where they can work through the practical and theoretical components of athlete development and performance.
Education Workshops for Athletes & Families
Physical preparation can often come across as confusing for athletes or families navigating junior sport. Throughout the year, we will provide basic education and resources covering:
- Long-term athletic development
- Injury prevention principles
- Recovery habits
- Managing busy competition periods
- Supporting growth and maturation
Working Towards A Bigger Picture
Ultimately, this partnership is about working towards something bigger than basketball. It’s about:
- Raising the standards across community sport
- Providing elite-level systems within a high performance environment
- Supporting motivated athletes with clear development pathways
- Giving coaches practical performance tools and strategies
- Creating stronger, more confident and robust athletes
We are excited to work alongside Bulleen Boomers Leadership, coaches and stakeholders as we build a performance pathway for long term success both on and off the court.
