Introducing Velocity-Based Training at SRA
SRA is excited to introduce our new Gymaware partnership, a world-class velocity-based training system providing real-time feedback on bar speed, power, and force. Used in elite sporting environments, Gymaware enhances precision, intent, and load management. This upgrade allows us to individualise training even further and elevate athlete performance through accurate, data-driven coaching.
Keep an eye out for our Gymaware units on the gym floor with senior SRA and rehabilitation athletes.

We’re also adding the VALD ForceFrame to our list of exciting new equipment at the gym. A leading isometric strength testing system. The ForceFrame measures joint-specific strength, asymmetries, and progress throughout rehab and performance programs with exceptional reliability. This technology boosts our screening capabilities and ensures athletes receive elite-level assessment, often only seen in professional high-performance environments.

GYG Athlete of The Month:
| Athlete Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Andrew Robinson | Drewy is an athlete who joined SRA only 9 weeks ago but has already had an incredible impact on our culture and program. Sustaining a Patella Tendon rupture during the NBL1 season playing for Ballarat Miners, Drewy came to us looking for guidance. Drewy has worked diligently with SRA Physiotherapist James Elwin averaging 5+ sessions per week as he looks to make a strong return to the court. |
| Eliza Ghosn | Eliza also recently joined the SRA community after suffering an ACL injury, despite being new to the gym environment, Eliza has shown incredible persistence and consistency throughout her rehab. Her progress, confidence, and commitment has skyrocketed in a short time, and she shows up each session with purpose and an attitude ready to train. Special mention to Eliza’s Physio Simon Wigg for all the hard work he does behind the scenes to help build Eliza’s confidence in making a return to basketball. Congratulations to both GYG winners for December. |
A big thank you to Guzman y Gomez (GYG) – the Australian and internationally renowned Mexican cuisine restaurant – for proudly endorsing our “GYG Athlete of the Month” award.
Each month, we recognise two athletes who best embody SRA’s core values of Belief, Discipline, and Ownership both in and out of the gym. The winners can collect their GYG Gift Voucher from the gym when they’re next in.

Directors Summary
As we head into the Christmas period and bring another massive year to a close, I want to take a moment to thank every athlete, parent, coach, and partner who has been part of our journey in 2025. This year has seen incredible growth across our community from new club partnerships, to national squad selections, to the day-to-day wins that take place on our gym floor.
December has been a reminder of what makes SRA special. We’ve welcomed new athletes into the family, seen huge milestones reached by long-standing members, while celebrating achievements across basketball, volleyball, and performance pathways. Our GYG Athletes of the Month, Andrew Robinson and Eliza Ghosn, are perfect examples of the belief, discipline, and ownership we value across our program.
As we look ahead to 2026, we’re raising the bar once again. The arrival of our Gymaware velocity-based training system and the VALD ForceFrame marks a major step forward in our high-performance capabilities. This will transform how we coach, assess, and individualise your training experience.
To our athletes and families, enjoy the break, recharge, and spend time with the people who matter most. We’ll be closing from 25/12 to 1/1, so if you plan to train during the holiday period, please ensure your 24/7 access fob is sorted prior to Christmas.
Thank you for making 2025 a landmark year for our community. Rest up, stay moving, and get ready because 2026 is shaping up to be our biggest and most exciting year yet.
Have a safe and happy Christmas
