August brings in our coldest month of the year but lucky things are heating up around SRA. Here’s a quick welcome to our 4 new/returning athletes, Term 3’s Junior Athlete Development Program has taken off in both Diamond Valley & Lilydale, we introduce in-house physiotherapy services on a Wednesday afternoon to better support our community. Expressions of interest are now open for our upcoming SRA Pathways Program – a tailored off-season training option for clubs and teams. Plus, we’ve delivered another successful Coach Education Workshop, Agnes Emma-Nnopu is your featured Athlete Interview for the month, we celebrate athlete milestones and standout performers, and Coach Benjamin has done some research on the most recent NBA Champions Oklahoma City Thunder.

SRA Physiotherapy
SRA has added in-house physiotherapy services every Wednesday afternoon, providing accessible, high-quality treatment for injuries, niggles, and recovery support – open to all SRA Athletes and members of the public. Our experienced physio team is here to help you move, feel, and perform at your best.
Term 3 Junior Athlete Development Program
This week we kicked off our Junior Athlete Development Program at Diamond Valley Basketball Stadium and SRA Headquarters, welcoming a talented group of athletes ready to build their foundation in speed, strength, power, movement and injury prevention.

The SRA Pathways Program
SRA are looking for a select few likeminded clubs or teams who are interested in running an off season strength & conditioning program starting mid-late August. This program is perfect for teams or clubs who found themselves riddled with injuries this season or are looking to increase their athletic potential to go one step further next season.

Bulleen Boomers Coach Education Workshop
Last month, we delivered a dynamic Coach Education Masterclass with the Bulleen Boomers Basketball Association, equipping coaches with practical warm-up, cool-down, and injury prevention strategies to elevate athletic performance.
The session combined theory and hands-on learning to ensure coaches could confidently implement high-performance habits across their teams.

Oxley Christian College
Our Term 3 Junior Basketball Academy is back up and running this week at Oxley Christian College, we are excited to continue progressing and developing these athletes across the term, giving them the chance to sharpen their basketball skills, build confidence, and develop high performance habits.

GYG Athlete of The Month:
Athlete Name | Description |

Isaiah Philp | Isaiah first joined the SRA program back in early September 2024. He is an athlete who has committed to our high performance habits and consistently applies the lessons he learns even away from our program. Isaiah has seen a 7cm increase in his vertical jump and has become a super competent lifter in the gym. |
Tayah Burrows | Tayah is an athlete who joined the SRA program to rehab a foot injury. Unfortunately upon her return she suffered a devastating leg fracture where another athlete landed on her during a basketball game. Despite these setbacks, Tayah is an athlete who always commits herself to her rehab/training and attacks every session with a desire to return bigger and better.

It’s been another big month at SRA as we continue expanding our impact across athlete development, injury rehabilitation and coach education.
We’re excited to now offer in-house physiotherapy every Wednesday afternoon and Monday/Thursday mornings, making it easier for athletes and community members to access high-quality recovery and injury support right here at our facility.
Our Term 3 Junior Athlete Development Programs are in full swing at both Lilydale and Diamond Valley, welcoming a talented group of athletes committed to building their physical foundations.
We’ve also launched expressions of interest for the SRA Pathways Program, an off-season strength & conditioning initiative for clubs and teams looking to level up next season.
On the education front, we were proud to run a hands-on Coach Education Workshop with the Bulleen Boomers,thank you to Coach Rahni for assisting with this one. We are also excited to see our Junior Basketball Academy return to Oxley Christian College for Term 3.
